Tony, our wonderful chef for the past 36 years, celebrated his retirement from the Killooleet kitchen with alumni and family on September 25. Lars, Elisa and Liz organized a delicious supper and about forty people joined Tony, Brenda, Blythe and Graham for a memorable evening. True Killooleet style, we ate on the dining porch and the volunteer kitchen crew (former kitchen staff along with some campers who are no doubt future ones) got the job done in record time. After supper we gathered round the fire in the Main Room. As we toasted Tony’s tenure, people talked about the best teacher they ever had, whose life lessons gave them grounding and skills for their current selves, whether as teachers, therapists, chefs or consultants. We ended with some songs and a wonderful time was had by all.
