ABOUT US
Founded in 1927 by Margaret Bartlett and Toni Taylor, Killooleet has been owned and directed by the Seeger Family for seventy years. John and Ellie Seeger passed the business along to Kate and her husband, Dean Spencer, when they celebrated fifty years of directorship in 1998.
We own three hundred acres on the edge of the Green Mountain National Forest in Hancock, Vermont, twenty-five miles east of Middlebury and twenty-five miles south of Waitsfield. We have a beautiful, secluded flat campus, a barn and a private lake.
Camp Killooleet will be at a few in person and virtual camp fairs in early 2025! Learn more here
“To say that this camp changed my life would be an understatement. I attended Killooleet for several years as a camper, and have spent several more on staff. Going to camp sparked in me a love of nature, music, and community. I would not be who I am today without camp. I cannot recommend it highly enough.”
Our goal is to create a community where children are given the structure and freedom to feel safe exploring who they are and can pursue a variety of interests. At Killooleet, our campers try new things, learn new skills, make lifelong friendships, and are able to schedule their time to prioritize the things they enjoy the most.
Killooleet provides children an opportunity to figure out how they enjoy spending their time. Campers participate in a wide variety of activities throughout the summer: classics like horseback riding, swimming and boating, archery, nature, and hiking; extensive arts programming including ceramics, woodworking, silver, stained glass, and fabric arts in addition to music, drama, and video; and both team (softball, soccer, basketball, ultimate frisbee) and individual sports (tennis, fencing). Everyone tries each activity at least once, then has the opportunity to plan their activities on a daily basis. This approach ensures that our campers can pursue activities they're passionate about while nurturing a diverse and well-rounded set of interests.
Killooleet is geared so that the artist can play softball, and the athlete can ride horses or have the lead in the camp musical.
